When planning your next road trip through South Carolina, why not visit some of the small town charm it has to offer?

Online travel guide publication site The Travel, recently pored over the Palmetto State to determine its 10 most beautiful towns.

From shimmering beach views to fishing, hiking and historic sites, these towns have plenty of sights and activities for visitors to enjoy.

Beaufort snagged the publication’s top spot for most beautiful town in the state. Located on Port Royal Island, Beaufort is less than 26 square miles in size, but there are still plenty of activities to do.

The Travel cites three must-try activities, including visiting the Beaufort History Museum, taking a biplane tour and cruising in a kayak.

“Exploring the area via kayak tour is a fun and unique way to learn about Beaufort and its marine ecosystem,” The Travel states.

York earned the second ranking on the list.

York’s downtown is lined with plenty of colorful storefronts and has several local restaurants. But besides the downtown area, The Travel recommends that visitors check out some of the local farms.

Black’s Peaches, a local farm, sells fresh strawberries and peaches, as well as delicious homemade pies,” The Travel states. “During the months of early May-mid June, visitors can pick their own strawberries.”

Bluffton came in at third place on the most beautiful list.

The Travel notes that for those with an eye for art, Bluffton has multiple art galleries and artist workshops to check out. There’s even the Society of Bluffton Artists Gallery, which features many works and usually a local artist on-site to answer questions.
